What this site is
Land Status Guide (public name: Public Land Field Guide) is an independent website. It explains land ownership and collecting / recreation rules in plain English, starting with Utah and the Intermountain West.
It is not BLM, SITLA, Utah State Parks, NPS, or DWR. We do not issue permits, sell tags, or book trips.
How we work
- Status and rules first — not secret GPS lists
- Famous public areas by name, with the cap and the office
- Gear pages that will use affiliate links when accounts are approved
- Every rules page tells you to confirm with the managing agency
