SITLA rockhounding permit

Last checked October 2026. Fee and form live on the trust site, not here.

SITLA is the School and Institutional Trust Lands Administration. That ground exists to earn money for schools. Recreational collecting is a trust decision, not a BLM habit.

Trust Lands has offered a fee-based rockhounding permit for personal collecting on trust parcels. The price, the term, and what it allows change. Read the current permit on trustlands.utah.gov before you rely on a forum post. The BLM cap does not apply on the trust side of the line. Why the fence line matters.

Informational only — not legal advice. Confirm with the managing agency before you dig or hunt.
